X-Men Origins: Wolverine leaked, and he looks pissed
So the news is all over the net: The new X-Men movie has been leaked, and the studio execs are pissed! All the free advertising and media exposure must be hurting them so badly in the hard economic times.
Apparently the pirated copy of the film is incomplete, with missing scenes and some missing special effects. Personally I love this idea. It gives me more incentive to watch the movie on the big screen (even if I watch the pirated version first), and it will probably make one hell of a drinking game (Everyone take a drink if you see how they did that special effect!). I hope somebody sees reason and includes this version on the DVD (Maybe even as incentive to buy the super deluxe “send-us-all-your-money” collectors edition).
Seriously though, what is the problem with piracy? It is not like it caused The Dark Knight to tank. The studio execs tried to convince the public that their anti piracy efforts are actually the reason that The Dark Knight is the highest grossing film, when in reality it was also the most pirated film.
Why not embrace this fortuitous event instead of sending in the copyright cops… Seriously, the FBI? Don’t they have fake terrorists to hunt down, or are they suddenly finding the pickings slim since the Obama administration got voted in?
The execs have even fired a journalist for reviewing Origins , and it was a POSITIVE review!.
Early reviews (And I mean really early) suggest that this is actually going to be one of the better X-men films… Better than what people have come to expect from Fox anyway. With Oscar winning Gavin Hood at the helm I am personally expecting a movie with a little more substance, despite Fox interference.
Hmm, all this talk of piracy makes me want to rush off and download it from www.evilseapirates.com right now… Oh wait, on my current connection that will take about three weeks… Bummer!
