Ask Dr Schlessinger
(Found on the Internet somewhere)
Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura penned by a east coast resident, which was posted on the Internet. It’s funny, as well as informative:
Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them:
1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord – Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness – Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath.. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination – Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this?
7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? – Lev.24:10-16. Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.
Your devoted fan, Jim.
You don’t have to be Muslim to be an religious extremist
*
Your child is very sick, but instead of taking her to the doctor, and despite the signs that it is serious, you invite your prayer group over to pray for her. As a result of your neglect, your child dies, and you do not consider yourself a religious extremist… Does anyone else see a problem here?
It seems I am not alone in this thought, and it is nice to know that sanity sometimes does prevail, even in the justice system.
On Friday, May 22, a jury convicted Leilani Neumann, 41, of Wisconsin, of second-degree reckless homicide for the death of her 11 year old daughter Madeline Kara Neumann. Obviously she will appeal the conviction. Dale Neumann, the girls father will stand trial in July for the same same charge.
Madeline, died on March 23, 2008, surrounded by her parents prayer group and business partners. They only called for medical assistance after she stopped breathing.
Now before you think that this is something that was difficult to treat , remember that basic medical care (insulin and fluids) would have saved her life. She died from untreated diabetes.
Madeline’s Aunt, Ariel Gomez pleaded for assistance. According to the 911 call:
“My sister in law is, her daughter’s severely, severely sick and she believes her daughter is in a coma. And, she’s very religious so she’s refusing to take (Neumann) to the hospital, so I was hoping maybe somebody could go over there.”
According to District Attorney Jill Falstad:
“Religious extremism can be dangerous. In this case, it was fatal. Basic medical care would have saved Kara’s life — fluids and insulin. There was plenty of time to save Kara’s life.”
Defence lawyer Gene Linehan responded :
“…Neumann didn’t realize her daughter was so ill and did all she could do to help, in line with the family’s belief in faith-healing.
…Neumann was a devout Christian who prays about everything and took good care of her four children.
Religious extremism is a Muslim terrorist. They are saying these parents were so far off the scale that they murdered their child. The woman did everything she could to help her. That is the injustice in this case.”
Madelaine’s father, Brian Gordon , was quoted as saying:
“We definitely are not terrorists. We are Bible-believing, God-believing, Holy Ghost-filled people who want to do right and be right.”
Way to go Bush administration… You have successfully brainwashed your constituency into thinking that you have to be Muslim to be a religious extremist.
I hope you are proud of yourselves.

*EDIT: The title is not meant to imply that all Muslims are terrorists or extremists.
Gay “Cure” Conference
Over a hundred protesters gathered outside the Emmanuel Centre in Westminster in London to protest the “Gay Cure” conference that was being held there.
There has been much said about the fact that being gay is not something that can be ‘cured’ (let alone by a bunch of whackjob ‘homo-neurotic’ closet case religious nuts) so I wont really go into that here. Seriously, all they are doing is encouraging a culture of prejudice, hate and fear.
What I would like to suggest is perhaps a different approach to ‘curing’ the evils of society.
I propose that we start holding conferences to cure the religious.
Religion alters peoples ability to think logically, is forced upon children( obviously without their permission ), is used to fleece millions out of their money, encourages persecution and marginalisation ,and of course not forgetting that it is is responsible for many millions of deaths worldwide.
Anybody who thinks that religion does not kill has their head in the sand. Seriously, do a Google search, open the newspaper, open your eyes.
Perhaps I should refine my statement a little. Obviously people will believe what they want, so lets not try cure the religious (they will fight it to the death anyway)… Lets rather just stop organised religion. Forcing your religious beliefs on others (for a fee, donation, or just because you ‘know’ you are right) is just wrong (Scientology and Christianity, I’m looking at you), and should be stopped.
Take this example : A ten year old girl was murdered by her grandfather because he held the superstitious belief that it would help with the crops that year
I’m sure that little girl really aspired to have her head chopped off by a superstitious whackjob. Maybe if the grandfather was so worried about the crops it he should of sacrificed himself, or maybe, just maybe he could have looked into the science of farming. Just a thought.
Examples of abuse are everywhere.
I leave you with a quote from Richard Dawkins :
“Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.”

Need another Timmy
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwVA698Hx2g
A blast from the past… How many of you remember the show Dinosaurs from the early nineties?
There was show within the show called “Ask Mr Lizard”, with a character called Timmy.
Anyway, Timmy had a horrible habit of getting himself blown up, or otherwise getting removed from the gene pool thanks to his ever trusting attitude towards Mr Lizard (Sort of an early version of Kenny from Southpark).
Anyway, I was thinking that that Timmy is a reflection in many ways of abuse that happens everyday, all over the world.
The blind following of leaders, whether political, religious, business or community is a bad idea, and I don’t care who the leader is.
We see it everyday. Priests abusing boys (while taking their parents money through tithing or collection) , Politicians becoming corrupt, businessman screwing the economy (and getting rewarded for it). It is all over, and very common.
